A Strange Tale of Snails and Rabbits

Snails aren’t the only animals that have a starring role in medieval memes. In a strange twist, cute little rabbits were sometimes shown as violent and crazy killers in medieval drawings. This is somewhat confusing, as people usually connect rabbits with good things. People generally viewed them as kind and gentle creatures. For example, rabbits are frequently shown in scenes with Jesus because they are pure and harmless. However, in some medieval drawings, they are turned into killer rabbits.
