丹麥的一間公司開發出名為OrbisBox的擁抱機，以協助安撫自閉症患者。
自閉症是一種複雜的腦部發育障礙，科學家表示，男孩得到自閉症的機率比女孩高五倍。而自閉症的跡象包括社交互動困難、對物品有奇怪的依戀、以及對危險渾然不覺。

據悉，OrbisBox就是根據Grandin博士的擁抱機，所做成的商業模型。
該裝置有163公分高、85公分寬、223公分長，可以被運送到各地。裝置中的夾板上都有俗稱的PU泡棉。
使用者可以仰躺、側躺或趴在裝置裡。
使用者進入裝置中以後，兩側的夾板就會開始往中央靠近，壓住使用者的身體、製造擁抱的感覺。
夾板產生的壓力可在10公斤和30公斤之間調整。
該裝置有內建的喇叭，可以播放舒心的音樂。燈光也可以調整，讓使用者更放鬆。
在美國，自閉症這樣的發育障礙正在增加，大約有百分之二的青少年受到影響，等於每42人就有一人患病。
OrbisBox會在9月底，於德國杜塞道夫（Dusseldorf）國際殘障復健暨安養照顧展展出，零售價是三萬五美元。

A company based in Denmark has developed a hugging machine called OrbisBox to help calm people with autism.
Autism is a complex brain development disorder that scientists say likely affects boys five times more than girls. Signs of autism include difficulties in social interaction, strange attachment to objects and unawareness to danger.
Due to their hypersensitivity, people with autism are often uncomfortable or unable to seek comfort from other people.
To help relieve their stress, a hug machine was invented by Dr. Temple Grandin, a world renowned spokesperson for autism.
OrbisBox is said to be a commercial model based on Dr. Grandin’s hug machine.
The device is 163 cm tall, 85 cm wide and 223 cm long. It can be transported to different locations. It contains side plates covered with polyurethane foam.
Users can lie on their backs, sides or on their stomach in the box.
Once the user is inside the device, the side plates will start to move in and press against the user’s body, mimicking the sense of a hug.
The weight of the pressure applied can be adjusted from 10 kg to 30 kg.
The box has built-in speakers to play soothing music. Lighting can also be changed to make the user feel more relaxed.
Autism is a growing developmental disorder in the U.S. that currently affects roughly 2 percent of teenage boys, or 1 in 42 boys.
The OrbisBox will be displayed at the Rehacare Fair in Dusseldorf at the end of September. The retail price for the device is US$35,000.
