【TOMO雙語爆】電子菸充電器爆炸 14歲男孩眼盲

出版時間 2016/04/19

It appears a Brooklyn mall doesn’t give a crap that a vape shop at the mall blinded a 14-year-old kid.

Leor Domatov hopped on the B9 bus to Kings Plaza mall on April 5th with two friends and checked out the Plaza Vapes kiosk.

Now I don’t know about you, but to us this kid looks pretty darn young … Nowhere close to the legal age of 18 in the state of New York, and certainly not 21, which is the age limit for handling or buying vape devices in the city limits of New York.

The accident occurred after a dimwitted clerk allegedly connected a vape device to the wrong type of battery charger the boy was holding.

The battery device exploded in Domatov’s face and shards of metal penetrated both of his eyes. He suffered severe burns on both of his hands, with one hand requiring 28 stitches to close a massive gash caused by the powerful explosion.

The eighth-grader told the New York Daily News, ‘In my left eye, I have a cut through the cornea and I can’t see out of it, and on my right eye the cornea was cut halfway through and I can see a little bit. I have severe burns on both hands. It’s very painful.’

Witnesses said it sounded like a bomb went off. Domatov spent five days at the Staten Island University Hospital burn unit. Whether he’ll ever recover full sight in at least his right eye is unknown.

Domatov’s dad Jonathan contacted the mall and says they essentially responded: ‘Why would you let your 14-year-old son visit a vape shop?’ And yes, the family plans to sue. Sounds like a slam-dunk case, no?
