Hip-hop performer and reality TV star Big Freedia had her show in Hattiesburg, Mississippi cancelled over concerns of potential gyrating.

The Mississippi Alcohol Beverage Control decided the extreme twerking might break the laws they have against serving liquor at events where the performance is sexualized.

Despite the fact that Big Freedia has performed without incident several times in the state of Mississippi, the owner of the establishment decided to cancel the show.

After all, he would’ve been the one held responsible for the illegal twerking had the show gone on as planned.

Officials raised concerns after watching YouTube videos of Big Freedia concerts taking place elsewhere.

The owner of the Dollar Box Showroom where the event was scheduled to take place on February 12 said he felt like he and Big Freedia were being discriminated against, since he claims to be the only Jew in town and she’s a flamboyant black crossdressing gay man.

Big Freedia posted an announcement to her Facebook page apologizing to her fans.

She also released a shirt in response to the cancellation that reads: “Mississippi is a right to twerk state.”

Big Freedia is also known as the Queen of Bounce, a New Orleans hip-hop genre. She was twerking before it was cool.

After comparing the decision to the movie Footloose, where an entire town is banned from dancing, the Dollar Box Showroom rescheduled the event and called it “Twerkloose: the first international Twerk Day.”
