【TOMO雙語爆】明星加持EOS潤唇球 消費者嘴部起疹惹議

It’s the name on everybody’s lips: The lip balm that came out of nowhere to become one of America’s favourite beauty products.

With more celebrity endorsements than the Betty Ford clinic, EOS lip balm has been spotted on the faces of household names like Hilary Duff, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and … uhh … Stanley from The Office.

But some unhappy customers say the lip balm should come with a health warning.

A Los Angeles woman named Rachael Cronin filed a class-action suit against the company on Tuesday.

The suit alleges the balm has caused rashes, dryness, bleeding, blistering and cracking to lips, and loss of skin pigmentation.

Among others, EOS pays for endorsement from Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus.

The lawsuit says these well-paid celebs have helped create a viral marketing buzz around the product.

So consumers have been whipped into a lip-smoothing frenzy, thinking EOS is a product they cannot live without.

EOS is an acronym for “Evolution of Smooth,” and the balm is designed to be easy to find in women’s handbags.

So with its cutesy design, rainbow of colours and clever marketing, EOS lip balm is well on the way to world domination.

But not so fast: The lawsuit says potentially hundreds of thousands of consumers have experienced adverse reactions.

The lawsuit is now asking for damages for affected consumers and demanding that EOS put a warning on its products.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, some consumers have posted warnings on social media that EOS lip balms attract mold.
