A young boy was reportedly mauled to death by three pit bulls that belonged to his older sister when she left him alone with the animals for a few hours when she went to work on Monday.
Local reports say 24-year-old Alexandria Griffin-Heady, who is the older sister of 9-year-old Tyler Trammell-Huston, left him alone inside her trailer home with her three pit bulls on Monday morning when she left for work. Two of the dogs were reportedly locked in a kennel.
When Griffin-Heady returned a few hours later, she saw that all of the pit bulls were out of the kennel, and found Tyler injured after apparently being attacked by the dogs.
The boy was taken away from the trailer home and transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Local animal care services workers came to collect the dogs later. According to the agency, there have been no official reports of violence in the dogs’ histories.
ABC 10 reports that some people are questioning why Tyler was left alone with the animals, with one relative telling the news station that the family was concerned about the pets after one of the dogs previously threatened another child. A video posted to YouTube that apparently belongs to Griffin-Heady shows her being affectionate with the dogs, which aren’t showing any aggression in the footage.
