在美國經歷無數次
民眾持槍殺害他人的社會悲劇後，
美國總統歐巴馬決定動用行政命令
來進行槍枝管制啦！
歐巴馬希望所有槍枝交易的人員
都要經過仔細審核，
並擴大菸酒槍炮及爆裂物管理局編制。
他也想透過身家調查
了解潛在危險槍枝用戶，
另外還想投入更多資金
在槍枝暴力管理上。
一些愛槍者覺得歐巴馬管太多，
是在濫用職權；
但歐巴馬的行動是有其必要。
不過美國人很害怕政府會把
大家的槍沒收，
要是沒槍可玩怎麼辦？
很簡單，買更多槍來屯就對啦！
因此每當歐巴馬
開口提到槍枝管控時，
軍火大老們反而賺了更多錢。
至於那些愛玩槍的，
或許該換個方式來灑鈔票了。

Obama’s big gift to the gun industry … gun control
After countless high-profile
mass shootings, President
Barack Obama has tried
to get Americans to call on
Congress to pass measures
to restrict gun access.
That hasn’t worked,
so Obama has decided to
do it on his own - sort of -
with executive actions.
Obama wants to clarify who
is a gun seller and therefore
required to perform background
checks on buyers, as well as
allocate more money to ATF
agents. He also wants to make
it easier to find out who’s crazy,
and fund more research into
gun safety technology.
The gun rights lobby will argue
Obama is overstepping his
authority, which he’s not.
But the problem is Americans
scare easily and will no doubt
think the government is coming
for their guns, so they’ll do
what makes the most sense -
buy more guns.
Every time Obama opens his mouth
on gun control the gun companies
make more money. Maybe he should
just keep his trap shut. And as for
the gun lobby, maybe they should
start funnelling money the other way.
