A Taiwanese woman suffering a severe earache got more than she bargained for during a visit to a Taipei hospital, when she discovered her ear canal wasn't blocked by an earwax build up, but by a live maggot!

When doctors removed the 48-year-old woman's hearing aid, they found this. A retreating fruit fly maggot nesting in her ear canal.
According to her doctor, the hearing aid made her inner ear warm enough to become an appealing place to move in for the larva.
Fortunately doctors were able to remove the insect without too much trouble and gave the woman some antibiotics for her trouble.
