20歲的Nur Elita 因與23歲的男大生Wahyudi Saputra親密，被依照伊斯蘭教法處分，因為這名男大生不是她的丈夫或是親戚。
在與印尼政府長期抗爭之後，班達亞齊於2003年成為自治市，全境實施伊斯蘭教法。
宗教警察確保無人觸犯伊斯蘭教法，尤其是女性更為嚴格。
在女大生行刑當天，數以萬計的民眾在台下歡呼，其中不乏有女性。
女大生被命令跪著受刑，共鞭刑五下。男大生則被要求站著接受鞭刑五下。
班達亞齊警方稱，這次的公開受刑，每個人應該記取教訓。

A young college student in Indonesia was publicly caned for indecency on Monday in the courtyard of Baiturrahman mosque in Banda Aceh.
20-year-old Nur Elita was punished under Sharia law for being in close proximity to a male university student, 23-year-old Wahyudi Saputra, because he is not her husband or her relative.
Aceh implemented a Sharia-based law system in 2003 after becoming a special autonomous region after a long period of revolt against Indonesia.
Morality police ensuring no one, especially women, violate Sharia law.
On the day of Elita’s public caning, crowds including women were heard cheering as she walked on stage.
Elita was forced to kneel before she was caned five strokes. Her friend was forced to stand while being caned five strokes too.
Aceh authorities said the public punishment should be taken as a lesson by everyone.
