On Monday morning, a 44-year-old homeless man sleeping in a dumpster behind this restaurant in Fremont, California
was rudely awakened when a Republic Services garbage truck dumped him and the contents of the bin into its trash compactor.
According to a Fremont police spokesperson, he survived being compacted twice and surprisingly walked away with no serious injuries.
The truck made two more stops, including at this Jack in the Box,
traveling less than half a mile, dumping trash on top of the man and compacting him inside before he was able to climb out of an opening in the roof of the truck.
At about 6:45 a.m. firefighters called the police and recommended that the man be taken to the hospital, where he is being held for psychiatric treatment.
