SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Three people were convicted on Wednesday for the torture and killing of a young Marine wife from Fallbrook, California after she refused to take part in rough sex in 2012.
On April 13, Brittany Killgore, 22, who had just filed divorce from her husband, a Marine who was serving with an artillery unit in Afghanistan at the time, accepted a dinner invitation from Louis Ray Perez.
Soon after Perez picked her up, Killgore sent a text message to a friend with the single word "HELP," according to affidavits filed by San Diego Sheriff's Department Detective Will Altenhof, the San Diego Union Tribune reported.
Four days later, she was found naked and strangled near Lake Skinner.
Perez, 49, together with Dorothy Maraglino, 40, and Jessica Lynn Lopez, 28, was part of a “master-slave” sex cult that involved sexual practices such as bondage, whipping, spanking, cutting, sadism and masochism.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Killgore was not part of the cult.
In an alleged suicide letter, Lopez, who was called by her attorney the “perfect slave” in the triangle, took full responsibility for the murder. She said she shot Killgore with a stun gun, wrapped her neck with a rope, buried her face in a pillow and strangled her.
Detectives, however, found a plastic bag with a stun gun, latex gloves and Killgore’s blood in Perez’s car. His DNA was on the weapon.
The trio could face life in prison when sentenced on November 19.
