「佔領華爾街」已經演變成全球性的「佔領運動」。2011年九月十七日，一群為數大約千人的示威者走上紐約市的街頭進行抗議。他們已極度厭煩在僅佔世界人口百分之一的富人以及其餘普羅大眾之間、各種不斷擴大的社經不平等。他們更對諸多大型企業所表現出來的貪婪與腐化、導致失業率攀升和民眾經濟困難的這種現象發出怒吼。自當時起，「佔領運動」已蔓延全世界，當中也包括約略有三百位抗議人士參加的「佔領台北」。
