Green Belt land should remain open and undeveloped and construction should not be allowed there, according to a MORI poll conducted in England.
A total of 84 percent of 931 people were interviewed in England between June 30 and July 4 this year for the Campaign to Protect Rural England. The survey was unveiled 50 years after the publication of the original government circular instructing councils to look at establishing Green Belts.
The poll found wide public awareness of Green Belts. People perceive housebuilding, road building and other kinds of development including airport expansion as the biggest threats facing them.
