赫蒂不斷打噴嚏，迪莉婭說：Bless You這兩個字，意思是「（上帝）保佑你」，但不必譯出。為甚麼？
按西方有一個習俗，見人家打噴嚏就說(God) Bless you!有人說，公元六世紀曾爆發致命疫病，患者會打噴嚏，當時教皇聖格雷哥里(St Gregory 540-604)教人見到打噴嚏者，即說「上帝保佑你」消災，是為這習俗之始。不過，有學者指出古希臘哲學家亞里斯多德（Aristotle）其實已提及這習俗，又指出古希臘史學家修西的底斯（Thucydides公元前471?-400?）曾提及打噴嚏是雅典一場疫病的症狀。無論如何，中國人沒有上述習俗，假如把那Bless You!直譯出來，讀者恐怕莫名其妙。
打噴嚏的「哈啾」聲，英文一般以Atishoo、Achoo、Atchoo或Achchoo表達。見人打噴嚏，除了說Bless You!你還可說Gesundheit!這本是德文，意思是Good health!（祝你健康！）英語國家借用了這個字。假如你打噴嚏，聽見人家說Good health!或Gesundheit!可以回答說：Thank you（謝謝）。
Allergy是「過敏症」，形容詞是allergic，其後可用to說明對甚麼過敏，例如：I have an allergy（或an allergic reaction）to peanuts / I am allergic to peanuts（我對花生過敏）。引伸其義，allergy和allergic也可解作「不喜歡」，例如：(1) He is allergic to anything Japanese（他不喜歡任何日本的東西）。(2) Poverty gradually cured his allergy to hard work（貧困漸漸治好了他的懶病）。
