Sharon:I met Jill's parents yesterday. They seem to be very nice people.
Casey:Her mother certainly is but her father's a bit of a rogue apparently.
Sharon: What do you mean?
Casey:Well, he's in the real estate business and I've heard that he's been involved in quite a lot of questionable deals.
Sharon:Well they certainly have a beautiful house.
Casey:That's probably the result of one of them.

Jill's father's a bit of a rogue apparently。
She appears (to be) uninterested in music、She is apparently uninterested in music、She shows an apparent lack of interest in music(她似乎對音樂沒有興趣)。 She seems (to be) uninterested in music、She is seemingly uninterested in music、She shows a seeming lack of interest in music。 It seems (to be) a mercy that she died before the war broke out(她在戰爭爆發之前去世,似乎也算是件幸運的事了)。Jill's father's a bit of a rogue apparently這一句,加上apparently一字,是表示「根據傳聞,但不能絕對肯定」。 Apparently she is a very beautiful woman, though I have never seen her(我沒有見過她,但據說她十分美麗)。 That's probably the result of one of the questionable deals。
