甲：不好意思，請問崇光購物中心在哪裡？
B：Sorry, I don't know. I'm a stranger here. You should ask somebody else.
乙：很抱歉，我不知道。我不熟悉這兒，請你問其他人吧。
A：Thanks anyway.
甲：沒關係, 謝謝。
B：You're welcome. I wish I could have helped you.
乙：不用客氣，我真想可以幫到你。
多學一點點 陌生的城市
你從台北初到高雄，有外地人用英文向你問路。除非他樣子像極常說蹩腳英文的江澤民，否則你大可不必亂指一番，應該老老實實告訴他：Sorry, I'm not sure. I'm a stranger here / I'm new around here too / I'm just passing through / I'm from out of town myself（對不起，我不清楚。我對這裡並不熟悉╱我也是初來這裡的╱我只是路過這兒╱我也是從外地來的）。
From out of town即「從其他地方來到這城裡」。留意town字的用法：一般字典都把town譯做「鎮」，city 譯做「城市」，但town其實也可指大城市，例如：Taipei is my favourite town（台北是我喜歡的城市）。
你也會發覺，town字有時會用冠詞(article) a 或the，有時卻不用。用不用其實有規矩可循。首先，town可以指市中心商業區，例如：He works in (the) town, and lives in the suburbs（他在市中心工作，在近郊居住。這個town可以不用冠詞。
指某一區內最重要的城市，town字循例不用冠詞。在英國，這個town往往指倫敦，例如He went up to town form Windsor（他從溫莎去到倫敦）。
此外，說自己居住的城市，也不用冠詞，所以I'll be out of town next week和I'll be out of the town next week這兩句，同樣是說「我下星期會出城」，但第一句的我是城中居民，第二句的我卻不是。
