Latin lothario Julio Iglesias has been accused of embezzlement and tax evasion in his native Spain. The Socialist Party of the eastern Valencia region lodged a complaint against the singer in the Supreme Court, and also name former regional prime minister Eduardo Zaplana as an offender, in connection with a 1997 publicity campaign.
The 60-year-old's contract stipulated he would be paid $2.77 million for promoting the Valencia region abroad. The complaint alleges Iglesias was paid $7.21 million tax free instead.
