Now, supermarkets in Sweden have started doing just that. Labeling fruit with a laser is actually quite simple. The skin of many fruits and vegetables changes color when put under bright light. A laser shoots out light that is extra bright and strong, so it makes a very clear mark. The mark is safe to eat and doesn't change anything other than the skin. While the laser used to mark the food is expensive, it saves money in the long run.
